The Eurovision Song Contest 2009

The 54th Eurovision Song Contest was held last night in Moscow, Russia on May 16 2009.- last year's winner. Like most Greeks I was very disappointed because Greece came only 7th. I think, however, that Sakis Rouvas - Greece's greatest pop star- did his very best. The big winner was Alexander Rybak from Norway who really won the hearts of all Europeans with his Fairy Tale which he wrote himself based on a true personal experience.... and the incredible record of 387 points. It was a great song and a great performance. In an interview after his victory, he said : "I won because I had a story to tell". My favourite song, though was the UK entry "It's My Time" by the amazing Jade Ewen who got the 5th place.
Alexander Rybak from Norway - the winner My favourite song. The Greek entry - This Is Our Night by Sakis Rouvas

I am not a fan of Sakis Rouvas. He may be a pop star in Greece but only for teens. I didn't liked the Greek eurovision song - it was more gymnastics than ...singing! And of course he showed us his perfect abs!!! Also his public apology was too much...acting! I loved very much the French song. Patricia Kaas is and will be a great star and a great lady. And of course Norway! Τελικά μας παραμύθιασε ο Νορβηγός αλλά ήταν ένα υπέροχο μουσικό παραμύθι που δίκαια πήρε το βραβείο.

I think that Sakis did his very best to give Greece a decent place. He was aiming number one from the beginning so I guess that's why we got so disappointed in Greece. But I agree that the Norwegian entry was a great song that deserved the victory. I think no one in the 53 year-old history of Eurovision managed to get votes from all other participants including 16 times 12 points! I wish Alexander a great career ahead which I am sure he will have.

* Olga, I don't like Rouvas either - not my kind of pop star- but I think he really gave us a great show at the Eurovision even if he didn't win.

* Christina, I agree, Sakis did his very best for Greece. And I am sure Rabyk will have a briliant career However, the song I really liked the best was the UK entry. A great performance.

Sakis is the winner in the hearts of all his friends and fans. It takes a lot of courage and a lot of humility to apologize in public. This shows what a great star is Sakis.

I strongly feel that Greece deserved to win. Sakis gave us an exceptional show and a great song. But it seems that in the eurovision the more neighbours a country has and the more votes regardless of the song!

Can't say I was really crazy about the British song. It was just a nice ballad and a good performance but nothing too exceptional. I truly enjoyed the show , though.

It's been a few years Italy has stopped to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest because of all the fuss about voting - eastern european countries vote each other, scandinavian countries vote each other, Cyprus votes Greece and Greece votes Cyprus. That is why my country that has won many times the Eurovision Song Contest decided to depart - unless there is a more fair voting. But I always watch the contest. This year I really thought : At last! Europe agrees! The Norway Fairy Tale was great. Bravissimo Alexander!

My vote went to Norway. It was a great song and a super performance. But I also loved the UK entry. A beautiful ballad. I was very glad to see that ballads are coming back. There was a time you'd only hear rap and hard rock!Oh and by the way! HAPPY NAME DAY! Χρόνια πολλά, Κωνσταντίνε μου, και να χαίρεσαι τη γιορτή σου. Φιλάκια

I apologise for the delay to get back to you but I've been travelling around on business trips for the last 10 days or so. Thank you very much for your wishes on my name day which I did not celebrate this year as I was away.
